Argoyle - Holy/Ret Paladin

  • Name: Argoyle
  • Class: Paladin
  • Level: 80
  • Spec: Holy
  • What is your dual-spec and what glyphs do you use for it: Ret, with: Judgment, Consecration, Divine Storm as major ones and Might, Lay on Hands and Sense Undead as minor ones
  • Are you confident playing your secondary spec in a raid setting?: Yes, I think I am not that bad as ret pally, although is not very often when I was not needed as holy pally.
  • What alts do you have, if any? What experience do you have with these characters?:
    1. Avrosiel - NE Hunter lvl 80: This is the major alt I have. Everytime I was bored playing a pally, I played a little with him. He is dual specced as Surv/BM, and I dont suck very much raiding with him, over all these years, I am pretty confortable playing with him too.
    2. DarthArgoyle - Human DK lvl 80: I am used to play with him as blood dps or (more often) frost dw tank, although I dont think he can handle heroics or 25-man ICC/RS yet. Or maybe I am not so hot as tank after all (most likely that reason)
    3. Cornolios - Dranei Shamman lvl 80: Dual specced Enhancement/Resto, I use him more to craft my gems and scrolls than to actually play with him, still more suited for 5-man heroics/ToC.
    4. Arubaru - Human Warrior lvl 80: Dual Specced Prot/Fury, almost same as the shammy, funny to play, but I am not good enough to take this toon seriously.
    5. Ardemas - Gnome Mage lvl 80: Dual Specced fire/frost. Need to study her more to properly spec/glyph/gem her. Made 80 with her not long ago. She is my enchanter/tailor/ Bank toon (this guild today is my personnal bank vault)
    6. Alviel - NE Rogue lvl 75: Dual Specced mutilate/combat. Same thing as previous toon. I am still learning how to play with a rogue.

Yes, I like a little to level, but I also liked to play around with them to learn the mechanics of other classes, at least the basics. And as a plus side, they have all professions maxed at 450.

  • Previous Guild History(Please include reasons you are no longer in that guild, PM me or Ameil if you don't want it public.):
Terenas Legacy (2006-2007) -> Some friends and me started this guild, back when wow was still vanilla, but we were largely unexperienced, and when BC came out, everybody left to another guild with some other brazilian hardcore players (mi upa). I kept the mage on this guild to use it as bank. When everybody left, I joined
Reported (2007-2007) -> They were very nice to me and my wife, there we meet some very good players, and we started to raid for real. unfortunatelly, the guild disbanded 2 weeks later due to some stress over Gruul's Lair.
Incurro Noctis (2007-2010) -> When Reported disbanded, Silvanos invited me and my wife to Incurro Noctis. Meant to be a Casual Raiding guild, we did ok in BC, although much slower than the top server guilds, we managed to see all content before WoTLK (except SW). On this expansion, we were in our usual rythim, until I had to step out of GM (I was acting GM since 2009) due to work schedule, and among with the trouble in plaguewing quarter in 25-man, was a killing blow in our guild. Currently, the guild is officially ended, although I believe Avira dont want to disband it.

  • Why <stalk and kill>?: To be honest, not only you guys are top on server, but (this is the impression I have) you manage to raid constantly, but in a reasonable rate. 4 days/week, with 75% of minimum attendance is a schedule I can commit myself with. I know that most likely you guys are already an efficient unit, much more coordinated and skilled than most people in this server, so if I want to improve my game the first place to look would be with the most capable people.
  • Have you ever applied to us before? If so on what character(s): Never. Only been in 3 guilds so far.
  • Do you know anyone in the guild? Would that person support you applying?: I dont know any of you guys personally, although I always copied some of your specs, enchants, gems, etc for some of my alts, if that accounts for something. ;).
  • Have you read and agree to the information posted here and here?: Yes
  • When are you able to play/raid: I am confortable with raids from Monday to Thursday, from 7 pm server time to 11-12 pm, what I believe is your current schedule.
  • Do you have any forseeable complications with committing to 75% raid attendance?: Not really. What may happen (never more than 1 week for each 2 months) is that I need to support my project at night, and I might miss some raids in that week, but it is not usual.
  • Post a link to your character from http://armorylite.com(Please log out in the set you would be using in raids.): http://armorylite.com/us/dalvengyr/argoyle

  • Please explain your gemming/enchanting choices: I gemmed for int, aiming for holy light -crit, although kept some socket bonus, using some spellpower/int and int/mp5 gems. The enchantments are fairly standard too, no great differences. For my ret set, is gemmed for Str, and mostly enchanted for AP, again standard enchantments, and berserker on the axe. My ret set is not as good as holy one.
  • What Glyphs do you use and why: I use Holy Light, Seal of Light for the extra 5%, and Divinity for the mana boost. minor ones are Lay on Hands for CD, Wisdom and Sense undead .
  • Given that armory doesn't always work, or show offset/unequipped items, please list any other gear you have that you feel is important to your desired raid role:
(Please include count of weapons, rings, trinkets, etc. in this list. You can check your item levels on sites such as http://www.wowhead.com)

Hmmm... let me see... The 4-piece T10 bonus is interesting, giving some more speed to my holy light, since I am 638 hasting unbuffed (yeah, could be better). My wep is a caster dps weapon because it was the best I saw drop (and luckyly, the dps caster already had better).
  • Screenshot of UI (http://imageshack.us/ is fine): (this should be an image link)

    http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m147/weretraira/WoWScrnShot_070910_231151.jpg

  • Do you have Ventrilo and a mic? Can you be on Ventrilo in raids without lagging or DCing?: yup.
  • Is your internet connection/computer stable?: Most of time yes. I had some connection issues a few months ago, but I signed for lowerping service, until it got stabilized. Nowadays, I have no issues.
  • Tell us a bit about you(IRL, if this is "My name is 'Name' and I'm a your average 'Age' year old 'Gender'." then you have failed.): Hmmm.. Ok. I live in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Portuguese is my main language, so I hope you guys forgive any gramatical slips here and there. I work as a system analyst at a big US company here. I enjoy some tabletop RPG, as a typical nerd, but havent played since D&D 4.0 came out. I enjoy outdoor sports, Do some workout every early morning, and I am a soccer fanatic. My wife likes to play WoW too, but she likes horde more (yeah, yeah... blood elves, what to do, huh?). No kids yet, but a little dog that loves to eat my slippers. Lost 4 already in the last 3 months. I like to think as myself as a cool, easygoing guy, but thats up to others to decide.
  • How old are you?: I am 36 years old.
  • Tits or gtfo?(Pics may or may not be required.): No tits here, sorry, only hairy chest. Wait, where did you go?
  • Impress us: I live in this city.

  • Lastly respond to the following phrases:
  • QQ:Moar drama!
  • Tweet Tweet: I think I saw a kitten...
  • fgt: forget what? ;)
  • I go out walkin, after midnight: That is when the night starts!!
  • IZ U MAD?: BIZARRO NOT MAD! BIZARRO HAPPY!!
  • Sorry bro, I'm feral: Thats ok, nobody is perfect!
  • check out my gear: Didnt want to say that, but you look fat in it.

Why did you chose Seal of light and divinity over other glyph choices?

Hi. Ok just remmeber these are just suggsstions and not harsh critism cause I want you to be better. First your glyphs u said in you app u want to help with mana. Well then beacon glyph is better than the LoH one simply because the extra time u get is more valuable since beacon cost so much. Also its dumb to use LoH on urself since ull have forbearance and might need to bubble to save urself . With that then u should use the HL reducation libram and the wisdom glyph to reduce mana cost. If manna is not an issue then i can see the SoL glyph. I never have prob anymore with how nerfed icc is except for HLK. But with ur gear level id suggest all the mana reduction things possible. As for spec I suppose for ur gear level going to the ret tree is ok for now to get some extra crit but when u get more geared the crit is a waste with dr so u get much more utilization for the raid speccing into inmproved divne sacrifice plus more armor for yourself, imp hand of protection to save a life etc. all u get in the ret tree is crit which in high level gear is wasted points.
Also your city is beautiful like a steammy teenage shirtless native american who transforms into a wolf...
Gl
edit as for ret ur Divine storm glyph should really be a seal of veng glyph

Seal of light because in Incurro's raids, I was used to keep judging light, so I used the glyph for the 5% increase on my healing. Divinity was because whenever I cast LoH, most of the time was in a caster with low mana, it helped a few times in some boss fights, but not that much, to be honest.

Hey Johny, thats cool! One thing I learned all these years here is that if I want to keep improving myself, I need to understand that a) I dont know everything, b) Listen to other people critics, because at the very least I would gain another Point-of-View that would only help.

I guess I can change to beacon glyph, you raised a good point here. I rarely cast LoH on myself. It is most likely I bubble before getting a harder hit. If not casting on tank in an emergency, I used to cast LoH on casters low on mana. But on a second though, not that frequently, to justify this glyph choice.

You are right about the mana issue too. I can barely remember the last time I needed to use a mana potion while raiding ICC. And I was planning already to move to improved divine sacrifice, just wasnt sure If I shouldnt get a little more upgrades before doing it.

And yes, Divine Storm glyph should have been replaced ages ago. I guess I forgot to do it! :S

...And thanks for taking the time to sharing your thoughs, and yes, this city is hawt, you must see it on summer!!! :D

Re: Argoyle - Holy/Ret Paladin

um u said u have seal of light glyph cause u keep judgement of light up in ur previous raids..U know after BC, the seal doesnt determine the judgment up on bosses. Hence u can have any seal up and can judge either wisdom or light.

Yeah, I know, btw I loved when they changed it. Some boss fights that had more paladins, I didnt even need to judge at all, since all judgments were covered, I just kept the seal up for myself. What I meant is that I kept the seal of light up because the 5% increase on heals.

Re: Argoyle - Holy/Ret Paladin

Hey guys, just wanted to say it was awesome be part of that raid yesterday and see how you guys work for progress.

I enjoyed the environment, and would like to thank the patience everybody had with me. First time ever to set foot on LK, sometimes I was a bit nervous and messed up, but got directions that helped me improve a lot, from many of you, big thanks!

You guys are aces, and I will be glad to raid with you again, at anytime!
